Carnival Is... Mas, Movement & Music
Carnival Is… Mas, Movement & Music!
A project led by West-Can Folk Performing Co. aimed at rejuvenating the Carnival Spirit through Masquerade, Movement & Music. We shared in the rich traditions of Caribbean carnival through lectures and workshops focused on the history of carnival in various Caribbean countries, Caribbean carnival costume making, calypso, soca, steelpan and carnival dance.
Over the last 10 months, West-Can has been conducting workshops nurturing the carnival spirits of Montrealers. Hundreds of sequins, drum beats and dance moves later, we’re coming to you ‘the community” for support for the grand finale!
We are excited to announce we will be hosting a Caribbean Carnival Exhibition On October 28th, 2023. This event promises to be a celebration of culture, creativity, and community.
