West-Can Folk Performing Company has been invited to participate as international guests in the prestigious Cultural Explosion event hosted by Belmont Freetown Cultural Arts & Folk Performing Company in Trinidad & Tobago on September 27, 2024.

The Heritage Voyage 2024 will see a delegation of 17, travel to Trinidad & Tobago, showcasing the vibrant Caribbean folk culture that thrives within the diaspora. This is a unique opportunity for us to represent Canada on an international stage, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Caribbean community in Montreal.

Carnival Is...Mas, Movement & Music

The “Carnival Is…Mas, Movement & Music” program is open to people of all ages and skill levels. Whether you are an experienced carnival enthusiast or new to the world of carnival arts, we welcome you to join us and discover the joy and energy of this vibrant cultural celebration.

Through our workshops and lectures, you can expect to learn the creative process of costume making, the rhythms and techniques of steel pan playing, composition and performance of calypso and soca songs and the dynamic movements of traditional carnival dance. Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way and help you develop your skills and confidence in the carnival arts.

Yes, there is a 5$ one time registration fee to participate in the “Carnival Is…Mas, Movement & Music” program. You will have access to all lectures, workshops and materials.
